Polydord Wasokye, a Congolese refugee, was raised in a farming family in DR Congo. When violent conflict uprooted his community, he fled to Kakuma with little support.
Instead of despairing, Polydord taught himself English, began volunteering, and later mobilized youth and women to explore local solutions to challenges of food, trauma, and environmental degradation.
In 2018, he founded LSBF with the belief that “displacement does not erase our potential — it challenges us to reimagine a better future.”
Polydord’s story is featured in Kakuma’s Regenerative Journey, inspiring global supporters of grassroots refugee-led action.
