About Us

Life Skills for Better Future (LSBF

Who we are

Life Skills for Better Future (LSBF) is a refugee-led community-based organization headquartered in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Turkana West Sub County, Kenya.

Founded in 2018, LSBF began as a small refugee self-help initiative — the Beauty and Washing Products Makers Group (BWPG) — training displaced youth to produce household soaps and beauty products for income generation and self-reliance.

In 2023, LSBF formally registered as a CBO, expanding its mission to include vocational training, psychosocial empowerment, livelihood development, and environmental action.

LSBF exists because displacement should not erase potential. We empower children, youth, and women to rebuild dignity, earn income, and drive local solutions to poverty, trauma, and environmental degradation.

Operating within Kakuma Refugee Camp, home to over 300,000 refugees and asylum seekers from 21 African nations, LSBF demonstrates that refugees are not just aid recipients — they are changemakers shaping sustainable futures.
